Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications


The Post Graduate Diploma Course in Computer Applications (PGDCA) is a one-year course spread over two semesters. It starts in June every year. The course content is modelled after the syllabi of comparable programmes conducted by top Universities in India and the DOEACC (Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India, and AICTE).

The Course is employment-oriented, and provides one with the computer skills tailored to office and business administration as well as providing a good foundation in various programming languages. the course is also designed to prepare teachers of Computer Science in Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools . Started in 1993, it still remains the only one of its genre in North-Eastern India: a highly acclaimed course that has a unique distinction of ensuring one hundred percent employment for its graduates ever since its inception.

The College awards certificates to candidates on succesful completion of the course. The final diploma is awarrded by the North Eastern Hill University, it commands wider acceptability and prestige compared to the Certificates awarded by computer training institutes.

NOTE
  1. Graduates in Arts, Science or Commerce (prefernce for Science and Commerce Graduates.
  2. 50% marks in the aggregate at the qualifying graduate course.
  3. Admission will be decided on first-come first served basis and an Interview/test to determine aptitude.
  4. The admission test will be conducted at St. Anthony's College, Shillong and at Don Bosco School, Guwahati. T he test will be conducted at guwahati provided there are enough candidates opting for Guwahati Centre.
  5. Thirty Seats only. five seats are reserved for candiadates from church-related institutes.
  6. Duration of the course is One year. Starts in June and ends in June of the following year.
  7. Class Timings is from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm daily (Monday through Friday)

PROJECT WORK


The Project Work, spread over two months (one month for System Analysis and Design and one month for actual Project preparation and implementation), is the culmination of the PGDCA Course. Students are encouraged to bring ideas for projects from actual situations Iinstitutions, business enterprises, administrative set-ups etc.) and to implement the completed projects for clients who are interested. However, the projects submitted as a part of the coourse requirement, remain the property of St. Anthony's College.
