Department of Language
Hindi is known as the national language of India. It is a very simple and easily accessible language.
It is the most important language of the people of India. National language always glimpse the culture and
civilization of any country. A great hindi poet Bharatendu Harishchand said that
the progress of our own language is a root of success. Therefore we should respect our
national language i.e. Hindi
Liturature is the mirror of a society. The purpose of liturature
is not only to reflect the picture of the society, but also to inspire oneself and make a
society better ever. Hindi literature is very vast and progressive one. The great men like Tulsidas, Surdas,
Premchand, etc. have analysed the life's problems for helping people to improve the
lifestyle time to time.
Summary of the Hindi Department
The Hindi Department is very grateful to Fr. A Joseph who introduced it in the
year 1962. The first Head of Department was Shri J P Khanduri; Smt. S Butola was the next.
At present Smt Filmeca Marbaniang is the Head of the Department. She joined the college in 2002. She has done
M. A.(Gold Medalist) from North Eastern Hill University with specialization in Premchand.
She has also enrolled in Ph.D programme. From the beginning, it is a one-man department.
Courses Offered
The college has only M. I. L. and Elective courses in Hindi.
A student who has opted both M I L and Elective, can continue his/her master degree in Hindi.
Aims of the Department
To support the students by the Departmental Library's Valuable books.
To help them not only in study, but also in morality.
Besides the syllabus to give an adequate knowledge of the subject.

Given above is the course structure of Khasi Language. G stands
for General and H for Honours. Thus H would indicate a paper only the Honours
students would be required to take, GH for a paper that both the honours and the
general students would be required to take, and G for a paper that only the general
students would be required to take.
